The Story of Us
It all begins with a midnight craving.
Fresh off a Kdrama binge-a-thon back in 2016, we wanted to recreate the delicious foods - tteokbokki! jajangmyeon! bibimbap! - using proper authentic Korean ingredients. But scouring through the internet half the night reveals the unfortunate reality - there’s a lack of halal Korean ingredients available in the market.
So that craving had to be shelved.. until we had the crazy idea to dig deep and find a producer instead. After all, there must be a progressive brand producer out there in Korea who must be keen to explore the halal market?
And thus our journey with Halal Hanjib begins.
Hanjib (한집) - short for Hanguk-ui Jib (한국의 집) - means 'Korean Home'.

We believe in building partnerships with family businesses and co-ops to bring you the true traditional taste of Korea while supporting their smallholding industry.
Over the years we’ve brought in different products and worked with different producers in Korea. Along the way, while many producers are keen to tap into the halal market and invest in the certification process, not all are willing to re-invest once their certificate validity expires.
As a Muslim-owned business, we also have a responsibility of ensuring that each of the product we offer to you are categorically halal. And so our journey and constant curation for new partnerships and products continues.
